Trust & transparency

Our commitments.
Your information.

Understand how this website works, what supporting our mission means, and how to contact us about your rights or concerns.

Effective: October 25, 2026

Terms of use

1. About this website

This website presents Power Diaspora’s mission, priorities, and opportunities to support Haitian communities. These terms apply to your use of the website. A donation, volunteer role, service, or partnership may also be subject to separate terms communicated before you commit.

2. Responsible use

Use the website lawfully and respectfully. Do not attempt unauthorized access, disrupt its operation, introduce malicious software, impersonate another person, submit fraudulent information, or misuse information about donors, volunteers, or community members. We may restrict abusive access, subject to applicable law.

3. Content and permissions

Power Diaspora’s original website content and branding, and third-party materials, remain subject to their respective owners’ rights. You may share public page links and quote brief excerpts with attribution where permitted by law. Obtain permission before reproducing substantial content or using our logo in a way that suggests endorsement. Nothing limits rights provided by applicable copyright law.

4. Inquiries and participation

Contacting us, expressing interest, or making a donation does not by itself create membership, employment, a partnership, representation authority, or entitlement to assistance. Participation and support depend on the relevant program, available resources, and any separately agreed conditions. Do not make commitments or collect money in Power Diaspora’s name without written authorization.

5. External services

Links may lead to independently operated websites, email services, or payment platforms. Their own terms and privacy notices apply when you use them. A link does not imply that Power Diaspora controls their content, security, or services. Check the recipient and destination before providing information or making a payment.

6. Availability and responsibility

We aim to keep information useful and accurate, but the website may contain errors, change, or be temporarily unavailable. No uninterrupted operation or specific result is promised. To the extent permitted by law, we do not accept responsibility for losses caused by reliance on general website information or independent third-party services. This does not exclude responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights concerning fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct.

7. Updates and questions

We may update these terms as the website and activities develop. The current effective date appears above. Changes apply prospectively and do not retroactively alter an accepted donation restriction or separate agreement. Contact us to raise a concern. Mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.

Privacy & website storage

1. Scope

This notice describes the current Power Diaspora informational website and communications sent to our published email address. It does not replace the privacy notices of our hosting, sign-in, email, payment, or community partners.

2. Information you provide

The current website has no application form, mailing-list signup, or embedded payment form. Its donation links open Zeffy, which processes information under its own privacy notice; we do not collect payment-card details on this website. The campaign recipient may receive donor information and transaction records through the platform, subject to its settings and notices. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever details or attachments you choose to send. Please provide only information needed for your inquiry. Do not send passwords, full payment-card details, government identification documents, medical files, or other sensitive records through an initial email.

3. Technical information and local storage

The page stores your English/French preference in your browser’s local storage under “power-diaspora-language.” It is not sent by this page to Power Diaspora. You may clear it through your browser settings. The current site code does not install advertising trackers or analytics cookies. Hosting and sign-in providers may separately process IP addresses, request information, logs, cookies, or account details to operate and secure access. The public website does not require a visitor account. Power Diaspora’s page code does not request your ChatGPT password or conversation history.

4. Use and sharing

Information you send may be used to answer your request, coordinate participation, maintain relevant records, and address legal or security obligations. An inquiry is not consent to fundraising or marketing subscriptions. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Service providers may process information to deliver hosting or email. We may disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, security, or legal claims. Partner coordination, including with STA, should use only necessary information and an appropriate legal basis or your permission where required.

5. Retention, security, and international processing

We retain correspondence and related records for as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, legitimate recordkeeping, or applicable legal requirements. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Email, hosting, and partner coordination may involve processing in the United States, Haiti, or other countries where the relevant providers operate. Contact us before sharing information if this raises concerns.

6. Your choices and children’s information

Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have sent, or to object to a use. Applicable rights and exceptions depend on your location and the relevant law; identity verification may be needed. This informational site is intended for a general adult audience, not for children to submit personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent information should contact us for review and appropriate deletion.

Donations & financial disclosures

1. Current giving options

This website links to a donation campaign hosted on Zeffy; payment takes place on Zeffy, not within this website. Questions may be sent to our team by email. Use only a donation link confirmed through our official contact details. Before making a contribution through any platform, verify the legal recipient, campaign purpose, currency, amount, and whether the payment repeats.

2. Power Diaspora and STA

Power Diaspora and Staff Turgeau en Action (STA) are separate organizations. Power Diaspora supports STA, but a reference or link to STA does not establish a fiscal sponsorship, agency, or shared legal identity. The recipient shown at checkout is responsible for receiving that payment. A gift to Power Diaspora is not automatically a direct gift to STA, and a gift made directly to STA is not received by Power Diaspora.

3. Use of contributions

Unless a specific restriction is expressly accepted, contributions to Power Diaspora may support its mission and reasonable program, coordination, administration, and operating costs. Campaign descriptions should explain any specific allocation. We do not promise that every dollar goes directly to a named individual or partner. If an accepted restricted purpose becomes impracticable, we will seek donor direction, a refund, or another lawful resolution rather than silently redirect the gift.

4. Tax treatment and registration

The description “nonprofit” is not, by itself, confirmation of tax-exempt status or donor deductibility. This website does not represent that Power Diaspora has IRS recognition under section 501(c)(3), or that contributions qualify for a tax deduction. A payment receipt alone does not establish deductibility. Request current organizational documentation and obtain advice appropriate to your circumstances before claiming a deduction. Platform approval, a domain name, or a partner relationship is not government endorsement or proof of fundraising authorization.

5. Fees, tips, currency, and recurring gifts

Zeffy’s checkout and applicable terms govern its payment processing and disclosed charges. A platform tip or contribution, if offered, is separate from the gift to the organization; review whether it is optional and adjust it before payment. Currency conversion, bank, or transfer charges may also apply. Recurring gifts require an explicit choice at checkout and can be canceled through the relevant provider or by contacting the recipient for assistance.

6. Errors, refunds, and concerns

If you believe a contribution was duplicated, unauthorized, or made in error, contact the recipient and payment provider promptly. For contributions received by Power Diaspora, email our team with the payment date, amount, and transaction reference; do not send full card or bank details. Requests will be reviewed in light of the circumstances, accepted restrictions, provider rules, available funds, and applicable law. Refunds are not automatically guaranteed. These terms do not limit legal rights to dispute an unauthorized payment.

Disclaimers & organizational disclosures

1. Mission statements and outcomes

Our priority areas describe the work Power Diaspora seeks to advance. They do not establish that every described service is currently available, funded, or operating in every location. Goals, budgets, and projected timelines are estimates, not guarantees. Assistance and activities may depend on funding, local conditions, safety, logistics, and partner capacity.

2. General information, not individual advice

Website content is general information, not individualized legal, tax, investment, medical, immigration, or other professional advice. No professional-client relationship is created by browsing or sending an inquiry. Do not rely on this website for emergency assistance; contact appropriate local emergency services when immediate help is needed.

3. Independence and representation

Power Diaspora is presented here as a separate organization supporting Haitian causes. References to Haiti, the diaspora, public institutions, or community partners do not imply government affiliation, endorsement, or authority to speak for all Haitians or diaspora communities. Only expressly authorized representatives may speak or make commitments on Power Diaspora’s behalf.

4. Images, stories, and languages

An image or emblem does not, by itself, prove that a person has received assistance or endorsed a campaign. English and French versions are provided for accessibility; neither version is intended to reduce rights described in the other. If wording appears inconsistent, contact us for clarification before relying on it. We welcome reports of errors or concerns about the use of a person’s image or story.
